The Algonquian tribes living in Massachusetts were the Massachuset, Nauset, Nipmuc, Pennacook, Pocumtuc, and the Wampanoag. Their societies were well-ordered, and they had tools and methods of hunting that were very effective for their needs. Dugout boats were their means of transportation on water. The Native Americans hunted deer, gathered nuts and berries, and caught seafood.
